We are honored to invite you to explore the creative world of Czech photographer Roman Franc at the opening of the *Collections* exhibition—a debut retrospective of his work—on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at FABER, Splaiul Peneș Curcanul, no. 4-5, Timișoara. The exhibition is curated by Lecturer Dr. Mădălin Mărienuț.
Roman Franc, a distinguished name in contemporary art, delves into the world of imagery through his unique technique, using large-format cameras that lend each photograph a distinctive depth and character. Known for his unconventional portraits and meticulously composed scenes, Franc captures the human essence with rare emotional intensity and refined technical mastery.
His works are featured in prestigious collections, including the Moravian Gallery in Brno, the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, and the Zillman Art Museum.
The *Collections* exhibition is part of the InterFOTO 8.0 – InterGENERATIONAL project, organized by the Kabaitan Cultural Association, and is a central element in the cultural and educational outreach involving various beneficiary groups, both direct and indirect. This project aims to bridge generational gaps by encouraging collaboration and mutual learning between students and young people, as well as adults in challenging circumstances from the D.A.S. Timișoara Day Center. Through photography, artificial intelligence (AI), and new technologies, participants will explore new forms of collaboration and creative expression within a vibrant cultural dialogue.
InterFOTO 8.0 – InterGENERATIONAL is part of the *Culture in the Present 2024* program, funded by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center.
The *Collections* exhibition is also part of the broader *Eighty Plus* initiative, organized by the Faculty of Arts and Design in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the West University of Timișoara.
